30 July 2008r. Pro motor’s press conference

On July 30 Pro Motor held a press conference devoted to a government draft amending the act on provision of state-financed healthcare services and certain other acts. Members of the Association gave their opinion on the current law regulating the financing of treatment of car accident victims and discussed the potential effects of introducing the government draft in the present format, especially in the context of Art. 14 passage 1 & 2 thereof.

Council for the Development of Financial Market – workgroup meeting

Representatives of the Association take active part in the work of the Council for the Development of Financial Market – commercial insurance legislation reviewing workgroup. In a meeting of July 16, 2008 the workgroup heard summary comments on the current law regarding compulsory motor third party liability insurance and proposals of certain amendments. The Association had performed a comprehensive analysis of act of 22 May 2003 on compulsory insurances, Insurance Guarantee Fund and Polish Motor Insurers’ Bureau, in connection with chosen provisions of traffic law of 20 June 1997. Three groups of comments and proposals have emerged following the analysis:

1. fundamental problems, which due to their prevalence or significance, affect the socio-economic reality,
2. regulations causing doubts or interpretation disputes,
3. provisions containing obvious legislative flaws, unambiguous understanding and application of which was worked out by the market.

Pro Motor International Insurance Forum

On May 8-9, 2008 Warsaw hosted the 2nd International Motor & Insurance Forum Pro Motor, organized by the Association and Warsaw University of Technology – Politechnika Warszawska, with the participation of domestic and foreign experts from motor and insurance sectors.

The conference covered car registrations and vehicle sales, current trends on the motor insurance market, legislation on motor insurance in Poland and other EU countries, activities of guarantee funds, consumer protection, and road safety.
